Do It Nicely Otherwise Don’t

Everyone desires success in life and it is something that cannot be bought from the market. The recipe is simple and still most of us fail to cook it right. This article might help you in finding an answer.

Acharya Chanakya was very practical in his approach and he emphasized a lot on “Why?”. He advocated that whatever a man performs must be backed up by a reasonable reason.

Actions that are performed without proper reasons usually underperform in comparison to those actions that are performed for a reason. In reality, whatever we perform we perform for a reason. It is another thing that the person performing those actions might or might not be aware of them.

What You Want and Why?

The human mind is a vessel of endless desires and on analysis of those desires, we will find that in the majority of cases “the things we desire” are similar. Name, Fame, Money etc. are things that appear on top of the priority list.

What I meant to convey in the previous paragraph was that we usually desire items that are not enough for everybody. Those can only be enjoyed by a few. Our world has been created this way and neither you nor anyone can do anything about it.

This scarcity creates a tough competition amongst us. “Survival of the Fittest” is the norm of nature that predates human existence.

So, striking the hammer with insufficient force will not help. Of course, you can waste your time and uselessly spend your energy by doing so. Success cannot be achieved unless you put right and sufficient efforts towards the objective.

A look of the following bulleted points might help a few comrades in understanding the reality of their lives. Before that, I would like to apologize in advance for making you uncomfortable.

  • The institute you have joined is for enjoying with friends or to be someone you desire to be. I Don’t say that you cannot go for a harmonious balance between two. Now, whatever you do, do it responsibly.
  • What you do, when you are unhappy? It is whose responsibility to keep you motivated, alive. and awesome. I believe it is ‘You’.
  • Do you have a list of excuses? Is it serving you well?

After reading the following quote from chapter 6 of Chanakya Neeti those ideas came in my mind.

It is better not to have a kingdom than having it in a bad state. Similarly, it is better to have no friends, pupils, and wife than having bad ones.

Summary:

  • Your life is your responsibility.
  • Your dreams are your responsibility.
  • People you love are your responsibility.
  • By being honest with yourself you can take the first responsible step.
* Whatever happened has happened and regretting over the past is of no use. It’s time to prove them wrong who have doubts regarding your capabilities.

Please provide the moola sutra for this anecdote from the Arthashastra. And it is my humble suggestion that you mention each sutra while elaborating it.
